Paul Hawken Lecture Thu Jan 17 @ ULI South Carolina Conference in Columbia

If you are unable to attend the full ULI Conference next week (see details in right hand panel) but do not want to miss this opportunity to hear Paul Hawken speak, as a conference sponsor we have this special "lecture only" opportunity for our Chapter members and guests for $50/person.  You must register through the Chapter; this opportunity is not available at the door.

Chapter Meeting January 24, Columbia @ USC GreenQuad Learning Center:  1pm

Note:  Date is a week later & day earlier than normal meeting.
 Please join the US Green Building Council South Carolina Chapter for a program on current South Carolina Green Building Legislation.  Presented will be a perspective/explanation on the new law requiring State-funded Projects to be LEED Silver Certified from the OSE (Office of State Engineer), an explanation of the role Commissioning plays in LEED projects, and our understanding of Commissioning in the new law, particular.  As always, non-members are welcome.
 

Green Building 101 Program - Feb. 7, 6pm - Columbia - Hosted by RCPL & USGBC - SC Chapter

 The public and anyone interested in understanding what makes a building "green" are invited to a discussion to be given in the Bostick Auditorium, Richland County Public Library, 6:00 - 8:00pm, February 7, 2008.  The program will describe how green buildings are certified using the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design®(LEED) rating system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, next steps in evaluating green buildings, the process for becoming a LEED Accredited Professional, and where to find out more information. Attendees can receive continuing education credits.  A reception will follow the discussion.  Please see our website for details.
 
LEED AP Training Classes
Beginning Feb. 14, Columbia @ USC GreenQuad Learning Center
The classes are hosted by the USGBC South Carolina Chapter and its affiliate, the University of South Carolina Emerging Green Builders.
As a follow up to the Green Building 101 program Feb. 7, we will hold a series of training sessions on consecutive Thursdays in February and March to help prepare attendees for the LEED AP exam.  Watch our website for details to follow soon.
 
Note:  We are still in need of experienced volunteers from the Chapter to teach the sessions.
 
GreenExpo 2008 Feb. 26-27, Madren Center @ Clemson
The USGBC South Carolina Chapter and its affiliate, the Clemson University Emerging Green Builders, would like to invite you and your colleagues to participate in the third annual GreenExpo.  Over the past years, the GreenExpo has been a huge success and we are working hard to make this year's event even better.  GreenExpo 2008 will again be held in February, but at a new venue, the Clemon University conference center. LEED Charrette Workshop

Integrated Approach to Successful LEED Projects Workshop

This full-day program is for design, construction, and operations professionals who want to implement an integrated approach to neutralizing first costs, improving building performance and reducing operations impacts.  Attendees should have completed a technical review workshop or have equivalent knowledge of a LEED Rating System.
