GREEN BUILDING 101 Program Feb. 7, Columbia @ 6 pm, hosted by RCPL & USGBC - SC Chapter
The public and anyone interested in understanding what makes a building “green” are invited to a discussion to be given in the Bostick Auditorium, Richland County Public Library, 6:00 – 8:00 PM, February 7, 2008. The program will describe how green buildings are certified using the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design® (LEED) rating system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, next steps in evaluating green buildings, the process for becoming a LEED Accredited Professional, and where to find out more information. Attendees can receive continuing education credits. A reception will follow the discussion. Please see our website for details.

National "Teach-In" on Climate Change to FOCUS THE NATION
Jan 30 - 31st all day across the country @ Colleges and Universities

"The 2% Solution" Asks What's It Cost to Fight Climate Change?

Wed, Jan. 30 @ 8 pm
GreenQuad Learning Center / BA 005 (Belk Auditorium) on USC Campus

A consensus has emerged from the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), arguably the gold standard in climate science, that failing to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by 80% before 2050 may push humanity past a tipping point of no return. What will a 2% reduction every year after 2010 mean for our country? For the world?

This film initiates a nationwide global warming "teach-in" called Focus the Nation, and faces the challenge of a 2% Solution.

For additional information on “The 2% Solution,” contact Thomas Chandler @ (803) 576-8004 or at greenere@gwm.sc.edu.
