LEED: Sustainable Strategies for Interior Lighting

Speaker : Toy Belcher, Energy Management Specialist, IESNA Award Winner, Schneider Lighting Company
Learning Objectives:
a. Understand specific LEED categories related to interior lighting and control strategies
b. Learn how interior lighting practices can have a large impact on LEED projects
c. Apply sustainable lighting strategies to meet progressive energy code requirements
d. Integrate innovative lighting and control technologies for sustainable environments

Toy Belcher, Energy Management Specialist with The Schneider Company, has over 40 years experience with Architectural/Engineering firms. During this time he either designed, supervised, or project managed the design of all electrical systems for educational, commercial, industrial, institutional, government, and health care projects.

His designs have included all aspects of lighting for the varying requirements of his projects. Some designs incorporated lighting controls with building management systems. One unique lighting design for a church sanctuary with ascending ceiling and descending floor earned him an IESNA International Lighting Design Award of Merit.

Additionally, in the early 90’s he assisted the U.S. State Department in establishing lighting guidelines for U.S. embassies.
